Sortitbob.com started very simply really, like a lot of ideas it was born out of frustration and need, the frustration came with the current situation of not being able to find what I wanted on the internet. The need was fencing panels. At the start of 2007 I, like a lot of people needed to replace some of my fencing panels which had been blown down and destroyed by the storms. Off to the local garden centre I went only to find there was a shortage of panels because the Chinese had bought all the wood, (I kid you not that was the reason, or so I was told) so armed with the computer on my desk I typed into the search engine - fencing panels supply Birmingham, I got 135,000 replies, near the top was e-bay and a company advertising ac/dc power supplies, followed by several others who had paid sufficient money to be placed at the top of the list, amongst the rest were huge numbers that had any combination of the words I had entered and surprisingly many companies from as far and wide as Yeovil, Nottingham, Leeds and Dorset (what has properties for sale in Sheffield got to do with my search?)
Subsequently I went to the directories and got lots of phone numbers and started ringing round. Here I was in 2007 and I was no further forward than my father would have been with his phone and phone book, so sortitbob.com was devised, simply to enable you to find a web page of a service or a supply or anything else you want in your area simply and quickly to get it sorted, sortitbob.com is not a search engine and it’s not a phone number directory, it is a hybrid, somewhere you can find a fencing erector in Birmingham, (or anything else you want in any area) with a link to their web page, so you can find what services they offer, at how much, the history of the company, when they are open, e-mail address, phone number, even if they are recruiting staff! Everything they have on their very expensive web site that you can’t find any other way, then go back and click on another to compare them, and then if you wish another. Simple, easy, straightforward, at the moment sortitbob.com is currently only a UK site but who knows what the future hold.
